This week's Fly Friday is from Steve Silverio, it's 'The Hollow Fleye Rattle - Jig.....

This fly is designed  for the giant redfish populating the Pamlico  Sound in North  Carolina  during August-September. They move up  into the sound for the pre-spawn, following schools of mullet  & menhaden, two of their primary  sources of food.

Drum are attracted to sound, a necessary  adaptation in the stained water of the rivers feeding into the Pamlico Sound. Their massive size, often 40 lbs (18 kilos) or more and long, blistering runs, require a strong hook with a large, stout  bend to sink and hold in those powerful  jaws. The Jig 86X is just the hook for the job!
