Joe Stitt and Arthur Greenwood concluded their busy season of demonstrations and tuition on behalf of Partridge, Marryat and Regal with their attendance at the Irish Fly Fair, held in November in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill.
Joe and Arthur have attended no less that 21 events in 2014, including all the major Shows and Fairs throughout Ireland as well as various Angling Club sessions, promoting the brand on each occasion. The only drawback is that it seriously reduces fishing time!
Joe tied on the Partridge stand at the Galway Fair with fellow Pro Team member Frank McMullan and he astounded the huge crowds with his tiny dry flies as well as a range of novel patterns, all tied of course on Partridge hooks.
Arthur helped organise the Junior Fly Dressing Competition in conjunction with APGAI Ireland Fly Dressers and reported that some 35 under-16s took part over the two-day event. Partridge kindly sponsored the hooks for the competition and the youngsters each tied a Black Pennell, some with assistance but a surprising number opted to ‘go it alone’ and produced highly encouraging results. Joe and Frank had the unenviable task of judging the competition on behalf of Partridge but managed to come up with winners on both days. It’s great to see that the future of our sport is in good hands.
The Irish Fly Fair was a great success and we would like to thank Partridge for their sponsorship of the event. I’m told that the hotel is booked again for 7/8 November 2015; if you missed out this year, make sure that you’re there next time.
Joe and Arthur will be involved in tuition over the winter at Angling Clubs and Fisheries in Northern Ireland and will kick off the 2015 Show circuit with demos at the Irish Angling Expo in Swords, Co. Dublin on 21/22 February.
Looking forward to it already!
